Discussion:
Excell Ole Objects Limiting Size/Scope

I am trying to bring in some spread sheets which have two pages. I am only able to insert the first and not the second page. I've deleted page breaks, reduced the size, etc., but cannot get the second page to be part of the object.

I need the calculations from sheet 1 to get total result numbers in page 2 so splitting them up isn't an option.

Can someone advise as to what I am missing in my process?

Thanks.

What version of AutoCAD? What version of Office? What OS are you on?

If you have AutoCAD 2004/5 _and_ Office XP/2003 _and_ Windows 2000/XP, you
shouldn't have this trouble.

If any one of those conditions isn't met, you are basically limited to a
paste area from Excel that would fit on an 8.5x11 page at 100%.

Or consider a third party alternative like
http://www.dotsoft.com/xl2cad.htm.

Thanks Terry. It is good to know alternatives are out there and I am not the only one who has the same problems listed in the XL2CAD description.

Architectural Desktop 2004, Office 2000, Windows XP.

I was thinking maybe I should save the "print area" to about 50% or will that matter? Or I could try and reduce the whole spread sheet to fit 8x11.

Thanks for the response.

Changing the print % won't help. The spreadsheet must fit on an 8.5x11 at
_100%_ print for a single OLE paste. Happily, that restriction is gone if
your system matches the specs in my first post.

Thanks Robert. My system matches all of the specs and I still can't get it to work.

I got a lilnk to some software which addresses these issues. I would think that even if I get it to work, the printing will still be fuzzy or fractured. I've faced this for several years, at one point saving back down to R-14 and using 1/2 raster in the plot process. I don't think it needs to be this hard.

I appreciate your responses.

Well, Robert. I meet all of the specs in your first post and I still can't get the "larger than 8-1/2" x 11" sheet to show in my drawing. What else am I missing, here? And my Excel text is terribly scrunched up when I get even the letter sized document into place. Ideally, We would like up to 6 spread sheets in a 30x42 drawing.

Thanks for the response...
